Reading a label without the lecture
Labels are written to impress and to comply, often in the same paragraph. You can ignore the poem on the front and still make a decent choice.
Ask three plain questions. What step is this: wash, treat, or seal? How does it feel on your skin after ten minutes? Will you reach for it when you are tired?

Ingredient lists run long because water, thickeners, and preservatives have names too. A short list is not automatically gentler, and a long list is not automatically harsh. Notice the thing the product is built around, then notice whether the texture suits you.
If a bottle promises a new life by Thursday, put it back. Cosmetic care can make skin feel tended. That is already a good day.
